Virtual Baby Shower

In Diner Girl, "Most Eligible Bachelor” Dr. Mark Stanton can’t escape all the women pursuing him for the wrong reasons. So when the only woman in the city who doesn’t know who he is shows up at his doorstep, he can’t help but want to know her better. Unfortunately, she doesn’t want to know him at all after their time together and he has no idea why.

When Jennifer Cleary discovers she is pregnant by Mark after their one night together, she is immediately faced with the guilt of her actions...and decides not to tell him. When he shows up at her diner during the most complicated part of her pregnancy, she comes face to face with a man who promises to take care of her...no matter what. But will this strong-willed woman have to let go of her independence in order to find love?

This is the blurb for my upcoming book, Diner girl, which will be released on August 28, 2009. In this book, Jennifer and Mark never actually get a baby shower. Mark decides to take care of everything on his own (typical man) and although he does a great job of it, I always felt bad that Jennifer never got her shower.

Because of that, I've decided to throw her a virtual baby shower. And you are ALL invited! There will be virtual balloons, virtual cake (vanilla and chocolate swirled), virtual door prizes, and a real rubber ducky. Yes, that's right. One lucky person will receive a rubber ducky along with a thank you card from Jennifer for attending her shower. (a special secret prize will be included as well, but it's a secret, so I can't tell you what it is)

Here's how to participate. Between now and Wednesday June 24th, come by and leave a comment. Tell me about the best baby shower you've ever attended. About the best baby shower gift you've ever given, or maybe received. Or something funny, maybe you have a funny story from a baby shower you'd like to share. Or maybe a sweet story. I'll take them all. A winner will be randomly selected to receive the prize (rubber ducky) and thank you card. There will be an extra special something included in that prize as well, so don't miss out on your chance to participate in Jennifer's virtual baby shower!

Thanks for stopping by!

Diner Girl is Coming!!

Back from Vacation. Okay, so it was more of a "time off" than vacation, and okay it was more of a "I'm unemployeed now and how the heck do I find a new job" than a "time off" but I'm back. *grin*

And Diner Girl is coming soon! I'm so excited, it's such a fun book, you're going to love it. Jennifer and Mark are adorable, and I can't wait for you all to meet them.

So. For the next few weeks, leading up to the release of Diner Girl on August 28th, I'll be posting a Ton of fun stuff on here. Recipes, Jennifer's personal diary (juicy stuff, I'm just saying!), baby shower games, and for anyone who asks, a preview of chapter one!

ALSO! Five lucky people will win autographed copies of Diner Girl on August 28th. How do you win? Leave comments. Every comment will enter you for a chance to win.

Tell your friends, your family, your grandmother Hazel to come visit. I'd love to hear from you!

Dark Chocolate

The waxy texture sat on my teeth, glazed the roof of my mouth. The bitter beans floated through the air, rather than just taste, I smelled the cocoa. Sweet mixed with bitter as it melted on my tongue, as it changed from solid to liquid. Slipping down my throat, sluicing over my taste buds. Still stuck on the roof of my mouth and in the crevices in the back of my teeth.

Blue

Thank you Rosemary, thank you Lois!

Blue is glacial, diving deep, an inhaled
breath on a cold winter day, is a low moan, blue is a sad day, is the end
of fall. Blue is frozen fingers and tingly lips. Blue is a bird as he preens his feathers. A child asleep
in the dark. Mountains
in the distance. Bathwater when you’re sick. Snowballs
without the gloves. Blue feels metal, the smooth bottom of a clean pot before it is filled with soup.

Why was the skeleton sad after Halloween?

Because he had no body.
